StageOne is a small amateur group, with enthusiastic members, who wish to get involved with new projects and commissions. However, we are not full time actors and we do this for enjoyment as a hobby; our ability to undertake projects does, sadly, have to be considered against our own work, Church and other commitments.

StageOne Mime Workshop - 29th April 2014
StageOne had a most stimulating evening on Tuesday under the theme of 'mime' led by Steve Dennis. We learnt together as a group how to interact with each other in dramatic mime mode with NO words spoken. We were made more aware of body movement and control; of communicating to the audience without words; by using simple everyday objects in creative ways; and forming tableaux as an interactive group...for example eight of us together formed a sailing ship, from out of Dover into the high seas, and ending up shipwrecked! A memorable evening for those who came along!

StageOne take part in the The Woman's World Day of Prayer Service - 7th March 2014
This was a special church service created by Tunbridge Wells based charity The Woman's World Day of Prayer.
This year it took the topic of Streams in the Desert, and celebrated the Christian women of Egypt.
One of the organisers in the project was recently returned Stage One member Joanne Hill, who wrote for our company. She also took part in the Four Egyptian Woman section. This represented the changing life of Egyptian woman through the ages.
Stage One members Roger Brown, Elisa Kerncat and Paul Wimsett took part in the Woman in the Well section, Roger narrating, Paul being Jesus and Elisa the woman at the well. This was represented the difference between water, which is essential in its own way, and the living water of Jesus.

StageOne performed “The Ambitious Son” at Church in the Park (August 4th 2013)
On Sunday StageOne went off to Canterbury to take part in the Church in
the Park service led by Pastors from St Andrew’s URC Canterbury.
StageOne gave a superb performance of a modernised version of the
Prodical Son story that was specially written for the occasion by one of
their members. It featured a mix of modern times and history and well
timed pre-recorded material. The performance was very well received by
all who gathered in the park mainly because we can all relate to parts
of the story and that we are all welcome back in the end.

Farewell service for Deacon Sue Hibberd | July 28th 2013)
On Sunday StageOne took part in the farewell service at St Andrew's for Deacon Sue Hibberd.
They presented a lively “Telling The World” based on Luke Chapter 10 Verses 1-11 and 16 to 20. It was very well received and some of the jokes like “not very British” and comments on the weather also got laughs. A very enjoyable service for Sue who is off on her next adventure in God’s work.

StageOne performs acts from Tartuffe by Molière | July 9th 2013
On Tuesday members of StageOne took to acting out selected scenes from
Molière’s Tartuffe and had some great fun in the process. Some of the
scenes included Act 1 Scene 4 where Orgon returns from his trip out of
town and wishes to know how the family has been. He completely ignores
all details concerning Elmire and only listens to what Dorine says about
Tartuffe. Another scene was Act 2 scene 2 where Dorine makes enormous
fun of Orgon, much to his annoyance.

Pupperty Workshop with Creative Puppet Ministry and Sketch Acting (18th June 2013)
On Tuesday StageOne had a very informative puppetry workshop thanks to
Creative Puppet Ministry from Cheriton Baptist Church, Folkestone. This
workshop covered the basic puppetry skills needed for a successful show.
Skills include proper entrances and exits, lip syncing and movement.
Everyone had a lot of fun.
In the second half John Simpson led a workshop exploring, regardless of script, what was the group could perform the sketch. Ideas that came up were performing a given script as a musical or just as a sung item, a thriller, serious and of course the comical way.

sound effects and wonderful home-made tongues of fire worn on their

StageOne then transformed themselves and showed the apostles as charged agents of the Holy Spirit and going out speaking languages of all kinds to all people.
